The Opportunity
In 2021, adi Electrical won the LV Upgrade Project at QE2 Locks in Eastham on the Wirral. Working with our long-term client, Peel Ports, adi Electrical undertook the installation of new 630A Supplies for the new Winch Houses. The existing LV infrastructure dated back to the 1950s and this was the first major upgrade since this period.
The installation was carried out within a short two-week possession period with all work and LV energisation completed ahead of schedule. Close collaboration was needed within the adi Group of companies as our Automation Division was also engaged in the control’s aspects of the project.
The Solution
adi Electrical installed over 6400 metres of 300mm SWA cabling in trenching, cables were presented and terminated within new marshalling kiosks with final sub main distribution radiating from each kiosk position. New protection equipment was installed and configured for the increase in electrical loading. Final handover and acceptance testing all completed before the possession period hand back.
